10 Caregiver Organization Products That Keep Me Sane

This is what it felt like before I got organized.

Caregivers don't just provide care, we manage medications, appointments, paperwork, schedules, and supplies. I have found that staying organized to be one of the best time savers. It also helps to reduce my stress level. it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Here are some of my favorite products:

  1. Skylight Calendar

This was a birthday gift from my sister and it’s a gift that keeps giving. I keep appointments, medication reminders, grocery lists, other to do lists, and family schedules displayed in one place. It's especially helpful when multiple family members share caregiving responsibilities. I also have it synced to my google calendar so that I don’t have to reenter appointments.

PRO TIP: I keep an “Essential” list for food and non-food items that I buy for Mama regularly on the Skylight Calendar that I use to track when she’s running low on items. I also share it with family members for ideas on gifts.

  2. Medical Toolkit (Binder)

This one I created myself. It’s my command center. I keep medication lists, insurance cards, doctor's notes, emergency contacts, and appointment questions all in one place. There are pages to write questions down so that I remember when we go to the doctor, and to also write down the answer from the doctor.

  3. Weekly or Monthly Pill Organizer

Using a weekly or monthly pill organizer makes medication management easier and helps prevent missed or double doses. I usually refill on Sunday mornings, or if I’m feeling extra efficient, on Saturday night after Mama takes her nighttime medication. This one I love because you can they are removable so if Mama is spending the day at my sister’s house I can remove the section just for the day, instead of sending the entire organizer.

  4. Walker Caddy or Wheelchair Organizer

This is great for walks, but also for travel. It keeps tissues, glasses, water, remotes, and other essentials within easy reach.

  5. Bedside Organizer

Mama loves this one, because everything is in one place. A bedside organizer helps to lesson caregiving chaos by keeping medications, glasses, tissues, chargers, and remotes organized and within arm's reach. With everything else to worry about I don’t want to worry about looking for missing items. This one can also transfer to her comfy chair.

  6. Charging Station

Between the phone, smartwatch, hearing aid charger, and Mama's other devices, the charging station keeps Mama devices in one place, reduces cord clutter, and ensures the devices we rely on every day are always charged and ready to go. Whenever we are traveling it is also handy to take along. Mama likes the ones that sit nicely on her nightstand.

  7. Electric Kettle

Whether it's making tea, oatmeal, instant soup, or warm water for medications, an electric kettle is a surprisingly handy tool that saves time every day. I added it here because it’s such a time saver in the mornings, I consider this as one of my organizing products.

  8. Water Bottle with Time Markers

A gentle reminder to stay hydrated throughout the day. Find one that has some motivational messages to help you help your loved one stay motivated to hydrate.

  9. Whiteboard/Dry-Erase Board (great addition)

A dry erase board serves as a visual command center for the day. Use it to write down reminders for appointments, medication reminders, therapy exercises, grocery items, and important notes. It's also a great way to communicate with family members or other caregivers so everyone knows what's happening without having to send multiple texts or make phone calls. For loved ones with mild memory loss, a dry erase board can also provide reassurance by displaying the day's schedule, visitors, meal plans, or simple reminders.

PRO TIP: This will also help your loved one keep track of what is happening which gives them a sense of inclusion and independence.

  10. Medical Monitoring Storage Bag

One of Mama’s favorite things. I keep it in her room and she emerges from her room each morning with her bag. It has become a big part of her routine. This is a designated medical storage bag to keep blood pressure monitor, glucose meter, pulse oximeter, extra batteries, or test strips, lancets, alcohol wipes, batteries, instructions and other medical supplies you need every day. Keeping all of your monitoring equipment and medical supplies together makes it easy to stay organized and lessens stress, and more confidence that you're prepared whenever you need to monitor your loved one's health. It is also great when you have other caregivers. Don’t forget to keep a notebook in the bag to jot down vital signs.

PRO TIP: Your loved one will love this.
